Wrought Iron Fencing

a house surrounded by wrought iron fence
Wrought iron fencing is often seen as one of the highest quality and most premium fencing options available to modern homeowners. If you want a timeless and classy fence style that will provide matchless security and durability, wrought iron may be the right choice for you. At Greeley Fence Installation and Repair, we’ve helped countless clients install beautiful wrought iron fences and we can share all the pros and cons of this fencing style.

Reasons to Choose Wrought Iron Fencing
Wrought iron fences provide a level of security that is near matchless among fencing options. There’s simply no way to easily break through a wrought iron fence, so if security is one of your primary concerns, wrought iron fencing is a great way to keep intruders out, or to protect pets or children that may play in your yard.

Wrought iron fences are quite low maintenance. To keep looking their best, they should be scrubbed and washed every so often, but it’s a quick and painless procedure that’s easy to do yourself. Repainting may be required after a long period of time, but not so often as with other materials. In the case of damage to a wrought iron fence, repairs can easily be performed without any need to replace the entire fence. Rust is a danger but can be avoided with proper care.

Wrought iron is typically considered one of the classiest and most aesthetically pleasing fencing options, and for good reason. Wrought iron fencing is sleek, elegant and timeless in its style. Trends come and go but at no point in fencing history has wrought iron fencing been seen as anything less than top-tier from an aesthetic point of view. There is a tremendous variety of designs and styles available for wrought iron fencing, so no matter your tastes or the style of your home, there will be a wrought iron option available that suits your tastes and needs.

This variety of fence is also extremely durable. Alternative options like vinyl fencing simply cannot compare to the sturdiness of iron, which will last for years and years of wear and tear, and even withstand traumatic damage that would destroy other types of fence such as wood or chain link.

Drawbacks of Wrought Iron Fencing
With all those upsides to choosing wrought iron fencing, you may wondering what the downsides are. There aren’t many, but there are a few reasons you may not want to choose wrought iron fencing for your yard. The first is expense – there’s no avoiding the hard truth that wrought iron is one of the most expensive options available to compose your fence. The materials are costlier and more difficult to work with compared to alternatives. So if budget is a concern, you may want to look elsewhere.

Another concern is the lack of privacy. If you don’t want your yard to be seen from the outside, wrought iron isn’t a great choice as there is almost always plenty of space between bars to allow for clear views inside and out. This comes down to your personal situation and priorities – no two homes have the same fencing needs.
